A DUBLIN GAA football legend and two time All Star has appeared in court accused of driving without insurance.
Philip “Philly” McMahon (37) was allegedly stopped by gardai in Finglas in May 2024.
The eight time All Ireland winning Dub was summonsed to appear before Blanchardstown District Court this week.
Mr McMahon, with an address in Glasnevin, is accused of driving a 151-registered vehicle without insurance at McKee Avenue in Finglas on May 19, 2024.
Mr McMahon is further accused of failing to produce then and there, his insurance certificate, and failing to produce his insurance details to a garda station of his choice within 10 days.
Defence barrister Alan Delany asked that the matter be adjourned to a date after Christmas.
Judge Catherine Hayden adjourned the case to next March.
Mr McMahon has not yet indicated how he intends pleading to the allegations.
He stood at the back of a packed courtroom while waiting for his name to be called, before making his way to the front, standing to the right of the judge.
He was not required to address the court during the short hearing.
McMahon played football for Dublin for 14 years, before announcing his retirement in December 2019.
In those years, he claimed eight All-Ireland Senior Football titles, 12 Leinster titles, six National Football Leagues and two All-Stars.
He has also won two Dublin Senior Football titles and a Leinster title with his club, Ballymun Kickhams.
McMahon owns a gym in Dublin, works as a strength and conditioning coach, as a TV pundit, and also as a mental health and resilience speaker.
