An Aontú general election candidate for Louth says that too many Drogheda residents are forced to commute long hours to jobs in Dublin and should be able to work in their own home town.
Aontú candidate for Louth, Michael O’Down said: “”As an Aontú candidate, I am committed to prioritising local employment opportunities and making job creation a core focus of this election.
“Too many of our friends, families and neighbours are forced to commute long hours to Dublin, sacrificing time with family and community because of the lack of stable, well-paying jobs here at home.
“Over the past year, we’ve lost significant job numbers like Smith Packaging, BD, Wasdell, M&S, and D Hotel.
“It’s clear that we need a strategy to bring industry back to our area, both for today’s workforce and the generations to come.”
O’Dowd said: “With extensive experience as a project manager for Enterprise Ireland, I have played an active role in some of the largest investments in local industry in Louth.
“I understand what it takes to attract and support businesses that create lasting jobs, and I am ready to leverage that experience to benefit our community directly.”
He concluded: “Aontú and I are committed to building a future where young people don’t have to leave home for opportunity.
“Together, we can create a strong local economy where families can thrive, careers can grow, and our community can flourish.”
