More than 50 people, who have been described as “persons of interest” by gardai investigating last year’s Dublin riots have now been identified following an unprecedented public appeal.
On Tuesday last, 99 photos of individuals were published on the garda website and members of the public were asked to contact gardai if they recognised anyone.
In an update, issued this Saturday evening, gardai said there has been a “very significant public response” to the appeal and that more than half of the images have now been removed from its website.
“An Garda Síochána is continuing the process of validating nominations for all 56 ‘persons of interest’ whose images have now been removed from the public gallery and progressing these investigations,” said a spokesperson.
The spokesperson added that gardai are not confirming the role of any of the individuals in the events of November 23, 2023. “It should not be presumed that identification means criminal involvement in these events,” they stated.

Members of the public who can provide information or identify any of the remaining 43 ‘persons of interest’ are being encouraged to contact gardai.
“An Garda Síochána would encourage any person who identifies themselves as a ‘person of interest’ from the published images to make immediate contact with the garda investigation team at Store Street garda station,” said the spokesperson.
The investigation team at Store Street garda station can be contacted by telephone at 01-6668000 or by email.
Any member of the public can also provide confidential information to the Garda Investigation team by contacting the Garda Confidential Phone number 1800 666 111.
