He was initially charged with assault causing harm to Mr. Dolmajian, but that charge was replaced by the murder allegation.

A man who was initially charged with assaulting a Canadian tourist, who died, has had his case upgraded to murder.

Ionut Danca will face a more serious charge over the alleged attack on Neno Dolmajian on O’Connell Street in Dublin on June 23rd

Mr Danca, who is 24, with an address at Rathdown Square, North Circular Road, Dublin 7, appeared before the Dublin District Court today.

The Judge noted the state needed time to prepare a book of evidence for the trial.

Mr. Danca, who has received High Court bail, was ordered to appear again in January to be served with the book of evidence and for a return-for-trial order to be granted.

He was initially charged with assault causing harm to Mr. Dolmajian, but that charge was replaced by the murder allegation.

Neno Dolmajian was from Montreal, single and in his 40s.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital after the alleged attack in an “unresponsive,” state, he never regained consciousness and passed away on July 2nd.

Another man is also before the courts in connection with the assault on Mr Dolmajian; his case resumes in January.
