A lucky Dubliner became a millionaire over the weekend after winning the life-changing sum in Friday’s EuroMillions draw.

One of the tickets worth €1m in the separate raffle draw was sold at the Day Today store in Ongar Village, Dublin 15.

Store owner PJ Delaney said this is their “largest winning ticket yet”.

“It was some shock getting the call from the National Lottery – I wasn’t expecting it,” he said

“This is the largest win we’ve ever had in store. The highest was a €40,000 scratch card win, so I’m delighted we can be part of the big celebrations.

“The team here will all be thrilled when they hear that we sold a winning ticket. I hope the winner is delighted and enjoys their huge win,” he added.

The National Lottery confirmed the punter from Dublin has made contact, and arrangements are being made for them to claim their prize.

Meanwhile, another winning ticket worth €1m was also sold at Nolan’s Garage, Londis, in Tralee, Kerry.

Third generation store owner, Mark Nolan, admitted the news came as a surprise.

“It’s always a great surprise to get a call from the National Lottery to hear that someone who bought a ticket from our store has won such a prize,” he said.

“In 2013, we sold a winning ticket worth €4m. There was great excitement around the shop and town, so I can imagine it’ll be the same for the rest of the week.

“It’s a great Christmas present for one of our customers, I’m sure they’ll enjoy the celebrations. My only regret is that I didn’t buy a ticket myself,” he added.
