DUBLIN – On November 27, 2024, Delta Air Lines (DL) flight from Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to Atlanta (ATL) was forced to divert to Dublin and make an emergency landing at Dublin Airport (DUB) to remove an unruly passenger.
The Airbus A330-300, registered N810NW, was operating flight DL83 from CDG to Atlanta. On Wednesday morning, flight DL83 took off from CDG at 9:13 AM local time, slightly delayed from its scheduled departure.
However, approximately 90 minutes into the flight, the crew decided to divert to Dublin after one of the passenger’s disruptive behavior posed safety concerns.
Diversion to Dublin
Reports from witnesses onboard suggest the passenger caused a commotion, prompting the crew to alert authorities in Ireland. Dublin Airport’s fire services were on standby during the overweight landing due to the large amount of fuel still onboard.
Irish police, An Garda Síochána, confirmed that the passenger, a man in his 30s, was arrested and later charged. The 30-year-old appeared in Dublin District Court the same afternoon, as reported by PYOK. The police refrained from sharing further details about the charges, as the matter is now before the court.

Flight DL83 was scheduled to land in Atlanta at 12:45 PM local time but instead touched down at Dublin at 10:45 AM UTC. After the situation was resolved, the aircraft resumed its journey and departed Dublin at 12:15 PM UTC, finally arriving in Atlanta later that day.
