The seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing work to clamp down on smuggling and shadow economy activity.
Since the beginning of November, Revenue officers seized 207,369 litres of alcohol, with an estimated value of €1,094,751, at Dublin Port.
The illicit alcohol consisted of approximately 174,744 litres of beer and represented a loss to the Exchequer of almost €326,334.
It also consisted of 32,625 litres of wine – a loss to the Exchequer of €212,976.
The consignment was seized when Revenue officers stopped and searched 9 containers that arrived from Rotterdam.
Investigations are ongoing.
