The odd couple O’Brien and Damien Duff have transformed Shels in three years, but the Reds assistant has bigger issues at heart: Palestine

Given how often they are in each other’s company in the pressure cooker of the League of Ireland standard season, you might expect Damien Duff and Joey O’Brien to make the most of the off-season and spend much time apart.

But the pair, the Shelbourne manager and his assistant, are hard to separate. They were away together just this week, not quite a city break but a jaunt across the water to watch Liverpool against Real Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday night. Duff has joked before about how much time he spends in O’Brien’s company or on the phone with him compared to the attention that Duff’s wife gets.
