Gardaí are renewing their appeal to trace a man who may have information about the disappearance of Trevor Deely in Dublin 24 years ago.

The 22-year-old was last seen in the city in the early hours of Friday 8 December 2000.

The previous night, he had attended his work Christmas party at the Hilton Hotel in Dublin 2.

Afterwards he went to Buck Whaley’s nightclub on Leeson Street, leaving there between 2.30am and 3.25am on 8 December.

Gardaí said it was a wet night and there was no taxi service due to a strike by drivers.

At 3.35am, Mr Deely called to his place of work at Bank of Ireland on Fitzwilliam Place.

CCTV footage of the rear entrance, on Wilton Terrace, shows an unknown man talking to him.

Gardaí are still looking to identify this man as they believe he may have information that could assist the investigation.

Mr Deely was last seen on CCTV passing a Bank of Ireland ATM on Haddington Road at 4.14am.

31 seconds later, a man was captured on CCTV walking in the same direction as him.

It has not been confirmed if this is the same man that was seen talking to Mr Deely earlier.

Mr Deely lived in Dublin but was originally from Naas in Co Kildare.

He was 1.85m (6’1″), of slim build, with short red/brown hair and a fair complexion.

When last seen, he was wearing a mustard and brown checked shirt, beige/grey corduroy flared trousers, dark deck shoes with white stripes, a green padded jacket.

Mr Deely was also carrying a large dark blue umbrella with white ACC Bank lettering.

Gardaí at Pearse Street station are continuing to appeal to anyone who can assist the investigation to contact them on 01 6669000.

Information can also be given via the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or at any garda station.
