Derek Murray (left) and Paul Casey are the new joint managers of the Dublin senior women’s team.

Former Dublin men’s footballers Paul Casey and Derek Murray are set to be appointed as joint managers of the Sky Blues’ senior women’s team.

Casey, who was part of the Dublin panel in 2011 that ended a 16-year wait for an All-Ireland, has worked with the women’s team as a defensive coach and selector for the past seven years.

Murray, who was a regular for Dublin under Pillar Caffrey, has similarly been part of the ladies’ management team since 2022.

A specially-convened online meeting of the Dublin LGFA will take place this evening where the executive committee will be putting forward a proposal to club delegates to formally ratify the pair.

Mick Bohan stepped down as manager last month. He was instrumental in turning a team, who had lost several painful All-Ireland finals, into serial winners.

In an eight-year term, Bohan guided Dublin to five All-Ireland wins. They also won two league titles and six Leinster crowns in that period of time.

The appointment of Casey and Murray offers continuity from that setup. Dublin begin their 2025 campaign with a home league fixture against Mayo in Parnell Park on January 26.
