Fine Gael councillor Emma Blain has been elected as the new Lord Mayor of Dublin.
She succeeds former councillor James Geoghegan, who was elected a TD for Dublin Bay South in the General Election.
Ms Blain, who represents the Pembroke local electoral area on Dublin City Council, becomes the 357th Lord Mayor of the capital.
She has been an elected representative since 2016, and served as a councillor on Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council until being elected to Dublin City Council six months ago.
In a statement Dublin City Council said Ms Blain will prioritise areas such as the participation and promotion of sport within communities, particularly for women and girls, as well as care for the elderly and dementia awareness.
Ms Blain has been an Irish delegate to the European Committee of the Regions since 2020.
She grew up in Rathmines, where her father was the Principal of the Church of Ireland College of Education.
She has previously worked as a journalist with the Sunday Independent, and is now the editor of the Church of Ireland Gazette.
