A young man who moved to Ireland from China in 2018 has said posting to social media about his Chinese food adventures here has helped him to feel a sense of belonging.
Posting as @taropearltea on TikTok, Taro shares his reviews of Chinese restaurants around Ireland, recommending the places where his followers can get the best authentic food.
Over the last year or so, Taro has built up a significant following across his TikTok and Instagram accounts with some of his videos – including his reviews of spice bags and 3in1s – going viral.
“Social media can be really positive if you use it in the right way,” he said.
“People have been really nice in the comments and it helped me to have that sense of community and belonging here.”
