A man has been arrested after a body of a man was discovered in New Ross, Co Wexford.

Gardaí were alerted to an incident at around 11am in the Cluain Fada area and found a man in his 60s unresponsive.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and the local coroner has informed.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination.

A man in his 30s has been arrested over the incident and is being held at a garda station in the east of the country.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed, as well as a family liaison officer.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them and are seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam, from those who were in the area at the time of the incident.
