AbbVie’s partnership with both organisations involves the AbbVie logo appearing on the Senior ladies’ football team jerseys, as well as the Sligo men’s county GAA Senior and U-20 team jerseys.

Members of both senior squads sported their latest kit and distinctive black and white jerseys, which feature the AbbVie logo, at a joint photoshoot at the picturesque coastal location.

This unique sporting partnership further underscores the biopharma company’s support of local communities and sports organisations, whilst demonstrating a firm commitment to equity, equality, diversity and inclusion (EEDI) practices, both inside and outside of the organisation.

AbbVie has two facilities in Sligo, one on the Manorhamilton Road and the other in Ballytivnan. Many of the company’s 500-plus employees in Sligo are currently involved in GAA and the LGFA or have previously played the sport at various levels.

Commenting on the continuation, Georges El-Damaa, Site Director AbbVie Manorhamilton Road, Sligo said: “We are very pleased to be extending our long-running sporting partnerships with Sligo GAA and Sligo LGFA. AbbVie has been a strong supporter of the game over the past number of years and this unique sponsorship forms part of AbbVie’s ongoing commitment to local communities.”

Michael Gallagher, Site Director AbbVie Ballytivnan, Sligo added: “At AbbVie, we strongly believe in promoting equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EEDI). Through our ongoing support of Sligo LGFA and Sligo GAA, we aim to celebrate and nurture the considerable sporting talent throughout the county at all levels.”

AbbVie’s ongoing partnership with the Sligo LGFA and Sligo GAA also means that it still remains the only multinational pharmaceutical company in Ireland to support an inter-county team in either code.

Seán Carroll, Chairperson, Sligo GAA said: “We are delighted to be working again this year with AbbVie, a company that is making a very significant commitment to Sligo generally and which is a valued partner of Gaelic games in Sligo in particular. Our relationship shows their appreciation of the value of the community in which they work and live and we in turn are very appreciative of that support”.

Martin Seery, Chairperson, Sligo LGFA said: “We are delighted to renew our partnership with AbbVie. Their steadfast commitment to women’s sports and community engagement is truly commendable. Together, we will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of athletes and fans in Sligo.”
