CORA McNaughton enjoyed her best success yet in her young sailing career in September.
The talented sailor who is a member of Blessington Sailing Club won the Junior Champions Cup in Cork. The Junior Champions Cup is a celebration of the Nation’s Best Young Sailors and brilliant Cora coming out tops. In doing so, Cora from Old Bawn became the second ever female to win the title in 52 years since the Championship began in 1972.
The competition sees the champions of each come together to showcase their skill and determination. “I was up against 15 other competitors and The Junior Champions Cup is very difficult competition to win,” said Cora.
“Some of my competitors had already won internationally at world and junior events so I was delighted to win the cup.
“I’m very proud to win the trophy as I’m the only second female in 52 years to win it”.
Already this year Cora has won the Munster and Connacht title and she is looking forward to the Ulsters in Malahide later this month.
