Paddy Whitty embraced a first championship victory as Adamstown manager after a closing burst of points from Colum Feeney, Michael Furlong and Conor Hickey saw them shade Clongeen in Saturday’s opening round Ashdown Park and Amber Springs Hotels Intermediate football championship Group A duel in O’Kennedy Park, New Ross.

Adamstown had drawn one of their two Intermediate ‘A’ hurling games – Clongeen losing both of theirs after promotion – and this result is certainly a welcome boost for the black and ambers.
