Aer Lingus axe MORE flights & confirm full list of 393 cancellations

THOUSANDS more Aer Lingus passengers have been left reeling after the strike-embattled airline announced it was cancelling a further 122 flights next week.

Some 270 flights had already been axed after pilots launched industrial action in a dispute over pay.

Pilots began an indefinite work-to-rule on Wednesday and are engaging in an eight-hour strike tomorrow.

Aer Lingus pilots will stop work tomorrow from 5am until 1pm.

And as the strike action is ramped up just as the school holidays begin, the chaos for stressed travellers is to continue next week.

Aer Lingus today admitted an additional 122 services have got the chop as a result of the ongoing industrial action.

The cancelled flights are from Wednesday (3 July) to Sunday (7 July).

Aer Lingus said it was taking the step in order to continue to protect as many services as possible.

It said: “These cancellations will be implemented today, and details will be communicated to impacted customers.”

The airline added that those passengers impacted could either change their flights for free or claim a refund or voucher.

Aer Lingus said: “These options will be communicated directly to impacted customers as well as travel agents, while the Aer Lingus ‘Travel Advisory’ page will also have up to the minute information on all the options.

“Aer Lingus fully understands the anxiety being experienced by customers given the uncertainty caused by the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association’s industrial action and is giving impacted customers as many options as possible.”

All Aer Lingus Regional flights, which are operated by Emerald Airlines, as well as Aer Lingus UK transatlantic flights to and from Manchester will operate as scheduled.

The disputes committee of trade union Fórsa met today to decide whether or not to give the go ahead for a further work stoppage.

The pilots are rowing over pay and seeking a pay increase of 24 per cent, which they say equates to inflation since the last pay rise in 2019.

The recommendation for an additional strike was made by IALPA yesterday after talks between it and Aer Lingus broke down with no resolution.

IALPA has recommended to Fórsa that the additional strike should be longer than the action planned for tomorrow.

However, the union must give minimum seven days notice to the airline before pilots stop work.

If the recommendation is accepted, further action will not take place before next Friday.

If passengers who are impacted have made their booking directly with Aer Lingus or on the airline’s website, they will contact you and advise you of your option.

If affected passengers have booked through a third party (travel or online agent or another airline), Aer Lingus will notify the original sales agent of the change.

They advise contacting them to update your contact details.

If your flight is significantly delayed and you choose to travel, you are not entitled to a refund.

If the flight is cancelled, passengers can either change their booking online, request a voucher for future travel or request a cash refund.
