ALERT: Choking hazard prompts immediate recall of ‘luxury baby accessory’

A baby soother sold at a popular Irish store is being recalled due to a major risk of choking and strangulation. 

According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), My Little Galway Store in Co Galway is carrying out a recall of the Love Baby Blue Soother Clip. 

The product does not contain ventilation holes so that if the clip came off and was in a child’s mouth, there would not be enough air to pass around it and the child may choke. 

Additionally, the soother holder can form a loop that is longer than the permitted length and this can get caught/ tangled around the child’s neck leading to the child’s airways being blocked and the child being strangled. 

This product – the model, batch number and barcode of which are unknown – does not comply with the requirements of the relevant safety standard.

There are approximately 28 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

Consumers should stop using it immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. 

Refunds are being issued to affected consumers.
