An inmate has died in Dublin’s Cloverhill Prison, Gardaí have confirmed.
Just after 5.30 this morning, prison staff called Gardaí and emergency services to Cloverhill following an ‘incident’.
A man in his 40s had been injured and was treated by emergency services upon their arrival.
He was pronounced dead a short time later and the scene has been preserved for a forensic examination.
A Garda Senior Investigating Office will lead the investigation into the man’s death and his relatives will be assigned Family Liaison Officer to support them.
