An image of Annie Lennox was posted on the MEP’s social media on Wednesday with the endorsement.

“If you want truth to be spoken to power with no holds barred, Clare Daly is the one and only. Vote for Clare!” the post said.

The image on Instagram was accompanied by one of the singer’s most well known songs Sweet Dreams.

“Who am I to disagree? Incredible to receive the support of the legendary Annie Lennox,” Ms Daly said on the post.

Lennox is not the only high profile celebrity who has publicaly supported the MEPs bid for re-election.

Last week, a video of Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon was posted on social media where the actress expressed her support for Ms Daly.

“Right now in America its a very pro war time and also voices that question that are being silenced and fired and given a very very difficult time,” Sarandon said in the video.

“So for the last five years, when I’ve seen Clare Daly and Mick Wallace doing what they’re doing, we can hear them around the world including the United States,” she said.

The Thelma and Louise star said both MEPs were giving people outside of Europe hope that there were few voices advocating for peace in positions of power.

“They’re speaking up loud and clear for international solidarity and social justice, for peace and for the oppressed people and I can’t tell you how much, how very important and how much that means to those of us in other places that are given hope by them and what they are saying, to hear that kind of truth.

“There are very few voices for peace in places of power and we need them more than ever now. Especially with what is going on in Gaza.

Saradon went on to endorse both Ms Daly and Mr Wallace in the upcoming election and appealed to voters not to ‘lose that voice in Europe”.

Actor John Cusak has also supported Daly on social media when he reposted a message by Mick Wallace on X, saying “100%” when Mr Wallace said Dublin would be doing Ireland and the rest of the world “a big favour” by voting for Ms Daly.

Ms Daly said she was “blown away” by the support she has received during the election campaign.

“As a politician from a neutral country, the reach and resonance of our message – of peace, of international law, of human rights, and justice – is testament to the enormous importance of real, proactive Irish neutrality on the world stage,” Ms Daly said.
