A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after an alleged hit and run in Dublin at the weekend.
The pedestrian, aged in his 20s, was seriously injured after he was struck by a van on Cloverhill Road in Clondalkin at around 1.45pm on Sunday.
Ryan Craig, with an address at Shancastle Drive in Clondalkin, appeared at Blanchardstown District Court.
Garda Shane Harten, from Ronanstown Garda Station, gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
He said that Mr Craig was arrested at Lucan Garda Station at 2.52am today and charged with attempted murder on Cloverhill Road on 20 October.
Garda Harten said the accused made no reply.
Judge David McHugh confirmed the charge was that of attempted murder and said there would “no application for bail in those circumstances”.
Bail applications for serious charges, including attempted murder, are dealt with by the High Court.
The accused’s solicitor, John Shanley, applied for legal aid for his client and the judge granted the application.
He remanded Mr Craig in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday via video link.
