Bliss Cafe, located in St Dominic’s shopping centre in Tallaght, will close on Saturday, December 21, and will not be reopening in 2025.

Announcing the news, owner Joan said: “Thank you to all our customers, without you Bliss Cafe wouldn’t have been possible.

“We have a lot of loyal customers who have been with us from day one. Brown Roll Mary, Five Sausages in a Bag Mags, Americano extra Shot Sinead, Coffee Slice Mick, Breakfast Roll Red Sauce Peter…. I could go on and on.

“I am so grateful to have met so many wonderful people and grateful to the local community whose constant support and business allowed me to trade this long.

“It’s been a journey filled with laughter, tears, messing and also panic stations when I have been under pressure…Flat to the Matt.

“Over the last couple of years, I have found it very difficult to cover costs. I have got to this point by the skin of my teeth.

“It’s just not sustainable to keep going. I’m devastated to lose it all. I have put my heart and my soul into running Bliss Cafe.

“I have grafted so hard and anyone that is close to me knows how much I sacrificed and how much this hurts. But I cannot keep going.

“I didn’t want it to end this way but, unfortunately, the costs have gotten so high. So many small businesses have closed this year, and the main reason is costs. Please come in to us and say goodbye.

“Please support your local businesses in your community. The big chains will survive, it’s the small businesses that bring something extra special into your community.

“They have to work harder. They sacrifice a lot more, there is more love and care put into their business.

“We have built such a special little business since 2017, me and my staff. There is no I in team.

“I got here with the help and hard work from all my staff, which paid off after winning business of the year within Tallaght, but it was bittersweet.

“I’m so proud of what I achieved having walked into a unit seven years ago with no clue what I was doing, but what a journey it has been.

“I built a good business with a good reputation. Never dropped my standards. Gave it 100pc.”

This news of the closure comes after Bliss Cafe recently won the Business category at the Tallaght Person of the Year Awards, run by Tallaght Community Council.

The cafe took to social media to thank their customers: “I was absolutely delighted, so many fantastic businesses were nominated for the award.

“This is our third year being nominated and each year I received the cert, I did a happy dance; it’s such a boost. Somebody took time out of their day to nominate Bliss!

“To win was just an amazing, thank you to my team who always show up and work hard.

“Thank you to my wonderful customers who support Bliss, we have so many amazing people that come to us every day.

“They choose us for their daily coffee, for their breakfast roll, or a cream cake, bread, lunch, sausage rolls. We wouldn’t be here today only for our customers.”
