ROUND four of the Irish Wire Products Limerick Senior Football Championship takes place this Thursday.
Three rounds of the Senior Football Championship have taken place to date.
In Group one, last year’s Intermediate champions Mungret St Paul’s have maintained their unbeaten record.
St Kieran’s and Adare sit in second and third places having recorded two wins and suffered one defeat.
Na Piarsaigh and Ballylanders are just above bottom place on two points.
Monaleen are yet to register a win in the senior football championship.
On Thursday, St Kieran’s meet Adare in Askeaton at 6.30. A win for either side will guarantee their place in the knock-out stages of the championship.
Table toppers Mungret St Paul’s will look to make it four wins out of four against Ballylanders in Kilteely at the same time.
The final game in group one sees Monaleen take on Na Piarsaigh also at 6:30pm on Thursday in Rathbane.
Galtee Gaels have built on their underage success and are at top of Group Two.
Galtee remain unbeaten in group two after three games. Newcastle West are in second place on five points after their draw with Oola last time out.
Fr Casey’s are just ahead of Kildimo-Pallaskenry in third place on four points, while Kildimo-Pallaskenry are in fourth place on two points.
Oola have boosted their hopes of reaching the senior football championship knockout stages by earning a dramatic draw with Newcastle West.
Ballysteen have lost all their group games and those three defeats have ruled Ballysteen out of reaching the knockout stages.
Kildimo Pallaskenry meet Fr Casey’s in a mid-table clash on Thursday evening in Quaid Park at 6.30pm.
Casey’s are in poll position to reach the last six. Kildimo Pallaskenry will need to register a win to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the championship alive.
Galtee Gaels meet Newcastle West in a top-of- the-table clash at the same time in Ballyagran. The winners will put themselves in a strong position to reach the semi-final of the senior football championship.
Oola will look to build on their impressive form when facing Ballysteen at 7pm in Fedamore.
Ballysteen will be targetting this game to get their first win of the campaign in order to try and get out of the relegation zone.
After round four of the SFC, the hurling championship will get back underway.
Round five of the senior football championship will get back underway on the week ending September 15.
The quarter-finals will see second and third-placed teams from group one and group two meet on September 28 and 29.
The winners from these games will face the top-placed team from group one and two in the semi-finals on October 19 and 20.
The County Final will then take place on November 2.
The winners of the SFC will be rewarded with a place in the Munster club football quarter-final against the winners of the Clare SFC on November 10.
