LIFT upgrades are underway at a number of Dublin railway stations, including Clondalkin Fonthill, Parkwest, and Adamstown.
Iarnród Éireann are carrying out the works as part of its ‘Big Lift’ progamme, which will see upgrading or renewing 21 existing lifts at 19 stations in 2024.
Funded by the National Transport Authority, works at Rush and Lusk are nearing completion and work is also underway at Hansfield.
Work will shortly being at Malahide, Clondalkin Fonthill, Parkwest, Adamstown, Clonsilla, Tara Street, Bayside, Raheny, Navan Road Parkway and Clongriffin.
All lift upgrades are due to be completed by the end of the year.
The works form an integral element of Iarnrod Éireann’s ongoing investment programme to continuously improve accessibility of its stations and services.
In total, 52 stations across the network will have seen lift improvement or replacement works between 2020 and 2024 under The Big Lift programme.
Meanwhile, under the new DART+ fleet from 2025, stations will have a retractable step at every door to address the gap between the train and the platform.
This will facilitate independent access for the vast majority of mobility-impaired customers.
