Blas International Summer School of Irish Traditional Music and Dance returns to the Irish World Academy at the UL from June 24 to July 5, for what is its 28th year
Now in its 28th year, the Blas International Summer School of Irish Traditional Music and Dance returns to the Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick 24th June to the 5th July 2024.
Dr Conor Caldwell will join Dr Breandán de Gallaí as Co-Director and both have exciting plans in place for the upcoming summer school.
Blas has firmly established itself as one of Ireland’s most prestigious university accredited summer schools, drawing students from all over the world to spend two weeks gaining access to the expertise of some of Ireland’s finest artists, which in previous years included Dónal Lunny, John Carty, Siobhán Peoples, Kevin Crawford, Louise Mulcahy, Karan Casey, Jim Higgins, Ryan Molloy, Amy-Mae Dolan, Lauren Smyth, James Greenan and Siobhán Manson, to name but a few.
In addition to expert tuition and masterclasses, Blas students can expect a whole range of activities including lectures on Irish traditional music and dance topics, Irish language classes, lunchtime and evening concerts, sessions, céilithe, field trips and above all, the unique opportunity to share tunes with some of Ireland’s leading traditional musicians.
Blas has also announced a number of available scholarships and tuition fee waivers supported by Bank of Ireland, Limerick City and County Council, and Tipperary County Council.
