Bord Gáis Energy has renewed its exclusive sponsorship of the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in the Dublin docklands.
The energy company has signed a 10-year agreement with theatre owner Crownway Entertainment Ltd to retain the naming rights to the venue, which is Ireland’s largest fixed-seat theatre.
“Crownway Entertainment is delighted that Bord Gáis Energy will continue to be the title sponsor for the next 10 years,” said John Gallagher, chair of Crownway Entertainment, the entertainment arm of real estate investor Crownway Investments.
“This successful partnership and its extension is an endorsement of the quality and value of the theatre and the staff that work there.
“As owner of the theatre, Crownway will continue its long-term investment, to ensure it remains a world class entertainment venue and a landmark building for the city.”
Bord Gáis Energy has sponsored the theatre since 2012, making one of the longest-running arts sponsorships in the country.
To date, the partnership has helped to support more than 450 productions and 3,500 performances including hit musicals such as Hamilton, The Lion King, Wicked and Mamma Mia.
A further 5.5m people have attended the theatre since Bord Gáis Energy started sponsoring it, and the renewal will ensure that more West End and Broadway shows will transfer to Dublin.
Dave Kirwan, managing director of Bord Gáis Energy, said the announcement was good news for the arts.
“As the inaugural and only sponsor of Ireland’s largest theatre, our 12-year partnership has brought the magic and energy of live entertainment to millions of people,” Kirwan added.
“We look forward to continuing to support the theatre in bringing world class shows to Ireland, while infusing our cultural landscape with vibrant energy and connecting people through the magic of the arts.”
Bord Gáis Energy customers will have early access to ticket offers, including pre-sales, flash sales, and special customer VIP nights with the deal.
Mike Adamson, CEO of Live Nation Ireland, which operates the venue, said: “We’re delighted to share that Bord Gáis Energy’s sponsorship is continuing for a further 10 years.
“They share our mission to bring the very best of live theatre and performance to Irish audiences.
“We look forward to many more years of delivering outstanding performances and memorable moments for both our audiences and Bord Gáis Energy’s valued customers.”
Bord Gáis is also giving away a 12-month musical pass to celebrate, and the winner will receive 12 pairs of tickets to musicals staged during the 2024/25 seasons, including the sold-out Hamilton show.
