The final Cabinet meeting of the outgoing Coalition takes place this morning at Government Buildings in Dublin.
The ministers for Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Green Party will gather around the Cabinet table at 9.30am this morning, for their final meeting.
Taoiseach Simon Harris is expected to brief his ministerial colleagues on his phone conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump and his recent meeting with EU leaders in Hungary.
Mr Harris is also due to update the Cabinet on how to guard Ireland’s economic security amid global instability.
The Tanaiste Micheál Martin meanwhile will inform cabinet on how five members of the Irish Defence Forces will serve with the UN authorised mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
No significant policy decisions are expected to be taken, given the General Election campaign is already underway.
Ten days to go
The campaign for the General Election continues today with just ten days left until polling.
Sinn Féin will focus on its proposals to support people with disabilities, with party leader Mary Lou McDonald campaigning in Dublin.
The Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin will also be in Dublin, where his party is likewise publishing its disability plan.
After Cabinet, the Fine Gael leader Simon Harris will be on the stump in Co Kildare and Co Laois.
Green Party Leader Roderic O’Gorman will explain his party’s charter for children, while the Social Democrats will launch what’s termed its ‘Positive Neutrality’ policy.
The People Before Profit leader Richard Boyd Barrett will detail his plans for standing in solidarity with Palestine, an issue that was heavily discussed in Monday’s debate on RTÉ Upfront.
The Labour Party meanwhile will also be in the capital to publish its ‘Crime and Garda Recruitment’ policy.
