DUBLIN, IRELAND – Juan Callejo Ropero carded a 5-under par 67 in his opening round to sit in solo first place after day one of the Lyons Links. Wake Forest is hosting the tournament at the par-72, 7,289-yard, Royal Dublin Golf Club in Dublin, Ireland.
As a team, Elon is in second place with a 285 (-3), while Wake Forest leads with an 8-under par 280.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Juan Callejo Ropero leads the field at the conclusion of round one with a 5-under par 67. The senior carded a team-high eight birdies on the day and seven pars to sit in solo first place.
- As an individual, Bizzell Pate is tied for ninth after carding a 1-under par 71. The freshman carded two birdies to offset one bogey in his opening round.
- Matthew Doyle and Garrett Risner are both tied for 12th place after both carding an even-par 72. Risner had five birdies on the day, while Doyle followed with four.
- Landon Durham shot a 2-over par 74 in his opening round to tie for 21st place, while Jack Wieler sits tied for 24th place with a 75 (+3). Wieler is the only Phoenix golfer to card an eagle after earning one on hole two today.
- Timmy Gannon and Bronson Myers are tied for 26th place after shooting 4-over par (76) in their opening rounds.
