Canada vs Ireland Highlights, T20 World Cup 2024: Canada beat Ireland by 11 runs to pull off yet another upset in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. While Canada were featuring in the tournament for the first time, Ireland were ranked 11th in the world heading into this fixture. Yet it was Canada who managed to come out on top to taste their maiden win in the competition. This is the second stunning result in the T20 World Cup 2024 in two days with USA handing a defeat to former champions Pakistan in Dallas in an earlier fixture.

Canada batted first in this encounter at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York and posted 137/7 in their 20 overs, riding on contributions from Player Of The Match Nicholas Kirton (49 off 35), Shreyas Moova (37 off 36) and Pargat Singh (18 off 14). In response, Ireland were in the game until the last over but eventually fell short, managing to post only 125/7, implying a 12-run for the tournament debutants.

Jeremy Gordon Pick Of The Bowlers For Canada In T20 World Cup 2024 Clash

With the ball, it was Jeremy Gordon who was the pick of the bowlers for Canada. The right-arm pacer bowled 4 overs and conceded 16 runs while also managing to pick 2 wickets. Dillon Heyliger was equally impressive with the ball and conceded 18 runs off his 4 overs while also chipping in with 2 wickets. Saad Bin Zafar finished with figures of 1/22 off his 4 overs.

Ireland too had some spirited performances in their side but that wasn’t enough for them to end up on the winning side. Mark Adair top scored for the Irish with 34 off 24 while George Dockrell made 30* off 23 after Berry McCarthy-led bowling effort had meant Canada could only reach the score they managed.
