FR CASEY’S scored a convincing win over West Limerick rivals Ballysteen on a score line of 3-14 to 0-7 to return to winning ways in Group Two of the Irish Wire Products County Senior Football Championship Round Three in Newcastlewest on Friday evening.

Following two straight losses, Ballysteen faced a must-win game against the eight-time county champions but the match was over as a contest by the halfway mark with three quick-fire goals putting ten points between the sides, 3-5 to 0-4. Mark McCarthy, Rory O’Brien, and Eoin Riordan raised those green flags for the Abbeyfeale men.

Fr Casey’s continued to assert their dominance after the restart scoring four points without reply including an Oisin Woulfe effort from range. Ballysteen’s first score of the second half came in the 52nd minute from the boot of Tomás Sheahan but the game was well and truly over at that point with the scoreboard reading 3-9 to 0-5.

Sheahan and Sean Whelan kicked Ballysteen’s final scores of the evening as Fr Casey’s added four further points, including two Adrian Enright efforts from play to wrap up the game in a comprehensive win for the Abbeyfeale men,

The Abbeyfeale men will now focus on their Round Four meeting with Kildimo Pallaskenry next week in Newcastlewest. Meanwhile, Ballysteen will face a must-win game against Oola in Mungret if they are to avoid a relegation battle.
