In February, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee raised an alarm in the Dáil about the dwindling state of Ireland’s night-time economy, declaring it is “falling away.” Her stark observation was underscored by a sobering statistic: the number of nightclubs in the country has plummeted to just 70, a drastic decline from the 522 that existed in 2000.
