CONOR CARTY is poised to complete a permanent switch to St Pat’s from Bolton Wanderers.
SunSport has learned that the Saints have beaten off competition from Bohemians to land the frontman.
Carty spent the 2023 season on loan with the Inchicore outfit after shorter stints with Oldham and Gateshead.
The 22-year-old scored five times in 34 league appearances and his last game for Jon Daly’s side was the 3-1 FAI Cup final win over Bohemians.
The ex-Ireland under-21 international moved to Doncaster Rovers in another temporary move last January but managed just three games before suffered an ACL tear.
Now recovered, the Wicklow man – who previously had two years on the books of Wolves – is hoping to relaunch his career in Inchicore under Stephen Kenny.
Elsewhere, Cork City have signed highly-rated Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Rio Shipston on loan until the end of June.
The 20-year-old broke into the Owls first team as an 18-year-old making three League One appearances under Darren Moore in 2023.
But his lack of action in the last 18 months alerted Cork City boss Tim Clancy to his potential availability as he snagged the midfielder on a six-month deal.
Clancy said: “This is one that we’ve been working on for a long time.
“We’ve been in discussions with both Rio and Sheffield Wednesday for a while now, and we are delighted to have him here and in training.
“He’s a very exciting young midfielder and I know the City fans will like him.”
