A Status Yellow Rain warning will kick in at midnight tonight.

The country’s first named storm of the season is officially on its way.

Storm Ashley could make its mark from as early as tomorrow morning, with four Western counties under Orange warnings, and a status Yellow wind warning in place countrywide.

In preparation, the Dublin City Council will be closing a number of carparks.

Local Green Party rep and Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Donna Cooney said: “We’ve only got a Yellow Wind Warning in place here so far, but we are coinciding with a very high tide, so that is our main concern around the coast and the Liffey. So, the boardwallks have been closed, the carparks have been closed in Sandymount and Clontarf.”
