A couple who were killed in a hit-and-run incident in Dublin on St Stephen’s Day left behind a legacy of love, mourners at their funeral were told.
Georgina Hogg Moore, 39, and her 40-year-old husband Anthony (Anto) Hogg died after being struck by a car on a road near the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, close to where they lived.
Ms Hogg Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her husband was seriously injured and later died at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown
The couple had two children.
Their joint funeral mass took place at the Church of St Philip the Apostle in Mountview, Clonsilla, and was followed by a “celebration of their lives” service at Dardistown Crematorium.
In his homily, Fr George Adzato said Georgina and Anto were a devoted husband and wife, who adored their children in a very special way.
He also gave a glimpse into their lives, saying that they were very house proud, they loved to go on holidays and were due to go to Spain in two weeks’ time to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
Fr Adzato said their tragic end affected everyone in the community.
He said the last few days have not been easy and added it was difficult to find words and meaning to what has happened.
The congregation also heard directly from the couple’s relatives.
Anto’s sister, Emma, described him as loving, hardworking and a joker.
Georgina’s uncle said she was an extremely precious and special person.
