Cyclist, 50s, dies after being hit by lorry in Dublin

A cyclist has died after being hit by a lorry in north Dublin.

The man, aged in his 50s, was cycling at the junction of College Road and Castleknock Village when the incident happened at around 4.30pm.

The man’s body was removed from the scene to the mortuary at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown.

A post-mortem examination will now be arranged.

The Castleknock Road through Castleknock Village was closed while a technical examination of the scene was carried out, but has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
