They were accompanied by members of the Shelbourne women‘s squad that won the FAI Cup in 2024.

And rounding out the star-studded cast was Ireland and Leinster rugby legend Brian O’Driscoll.

The club’s Technical Director Luke Byrne posted: “In awe of the brilliant workers we met today on the wards in Temple St.

“Very proud of the club today and hope we brought a small bit of happiness to those amazing children

Damien Duff bought himself a number of Christmas presents as Shelbourne put the building blocks of what they hope will be a successful title defence together.

The Reds most recently announced the signing of former Ireland Under-21 striker Mipo Odubeko.

Duff believes Odubeko made the decision believing that Tolka Park is where he can fulfil his potential.

Duff said: “Every team in Ireland wanted Mipo but I am proud that he has chosen this special club.

“He was excited to join the champions but I think the real reason he is here is because we are the No. 1 place to unlock potential and get the best out of players.

“He has amazing power, speed and finishing that maybe not enough people have seen.

“Myself and the staff plan on unleashing all of it. He is a fascinating signing.”

Odubeko arrives at Tolka with a lot of experience in underage football after spells at Manchester City and Manchester United before he signed for West Ham United

He featured under David Moyes in the first team making two appearances though loan spells did not go well before he joined Maritimo in Portugal.

Odubeko returned to England after 18 months in Portugal to join Fleetwood last January but has now opted to return home.

He said: “My focus is clear: work hard, improve every day, and give everything to help the team win.

“I’m here to play my part, fight for this badge, and contribute to a successful season. I can’t wait to get started!”

He is the latest acquisition, joining Ellis Chapman, Ryan O’Kane and Daniel Kelly.
