Irish IT solutions company Datapac has completely overhauled the Irish Equine Centre‘s (IEC) IT infrastructure to better support the provision of horse health and wellbeing services such as laboratory diagnostics, disease surveillance, and biosecurity research.
Kildare-based IEC’s new networking, computer and storage infrastructure has been build on Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) hardware and software, providing robust cloud data back-up and recovery and the ability to restore data within minutes.
Advanced de-duplication has been employed to reduce the size of data storage by up to 90%, significantly lowering IEC’s cloud hosting costs and increasing productivity for its 69 employees, while Datapac’s Manager Threat Ops service provides 24/7 monitoring, response and neutralisation of cybersecurity threats.
The IEC also serves as a teaching centre for third-level veterinary students, who will be given individual accounts and storage space with Microsoft Office 365. Datapac has also upgraded the Wi-Fi, and the changes will free up in-house IT resources.

Datapac’s overhaul coincides with the launch of IEC’s Pet Vet Lab, a new service offering a personalised probiotic to household pets derived from advanced screenings.
