Dublin Journal has won a thrilling edition of the $60,000 Horsham Cup on Sunday, nosing out country cups king Station One for a group of excited connections at the race meeting.

The Lindsay Park runner jumped a $2.80 favourite after running fourth behind subsequent Coongy Cup winner Kingswood at Sandown last start, but it was a nervy watch for owners and backers.

Settling three-back on the fence, Dublin Journal travelled strongly throughout the 2100-metre journey, but was still stuck behind leaders Lottaroc and Station One – who was off the bit but fighting hard as usual – when turning.

However, Fred Kersley found the gap at the top of the straight, and though Station One was so tough again, Dublin Journal was gritty and scored by the narrowest of margins,

Lottaroc continued David Noonan’s fantastic recent form in third, just half a head further back.

Lindsay Park’s Flemington Stable Manager Will Evans was delighted to get the result for the loyal group of connections.

“What a huge thrill for the whole team. There’s some great owners in this horse, they come to every start,” he said.

“Freddy gave it a great run – we’d been a bit unlucky, so I didn’t know on the post, but to see him get his head in front at the right time is a huge thrill.”
