Dublin Airport & Ryanair warn of delays amid snow & ice alert

PASSENGERS are being warned of flight delays to and from Ireland due to snow and ice.

Major UK airports are facing travel chaos after heavy snowfall, rain and flooding with many flights suspended or delayed.

Dublin Airport has confirmed they are “fully operational” this morning despite impacts in major UK airports due to severe weather conditions.

Airports across the UK reported flight cancellations and delays as the Arctic air blast hit, and passengers were warned to “contact their airline directly for the latest updates on their flight.”

Dublin Airport bosses said: “Dublin Airport is fully operational this morning.

“Some UK airports are dealing with snow & weather issues, which may impact on airline schedules and result in delays over the course of the day.

“As always, passengers flying today should contact their airline directly for the latest updates on their flight.”

RYANAIR WARNING

Ryanair also released a statement about the weather on their website today.

The budget airline revealed potential disruptions to/from Ireland are expected due to snow and ice.

Passengers travelling to or from Ireland on this date should check their Ryanair app for the most up-to-date flight information.

Ryanair said weather conditions are beyond their control and impact all airlines operating in and out of Ireland.

They said: “Please be advised that we are monitoring potential disruptions to flights to/from Ireland on Tuesday 07 Jan due to snow and ice.

“Affected passengers will be notified and any passengers travelling to/from Ireland on Tues 07 Jan should check their Ryanair app for the latest updates on their flight.

“We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by these weather conditions, which is outside of Ryanair’s control and affects all airlines operating to/from Ireland on Tues 07 Jan.”

TRAVEL DISRUPTIONS

This comes after as travel disruption in the UK is likely to have adverse impacts on flights across Ireland.

The UK Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice for parts of the UK, which includes Wales, southwest and northwest England, until 10am today.

They said: “Icy stretches and sleet/snow showers developing overnight, bringing some disruption, especially to travel.”

Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport runaway has now reopened after being closed for “snow cleaning and anti-icing” until 10.30am.

An airport spokesperson said: “Our runway is now open and flights should resume shortly.

“Safety is our uppermost priority and we would like to thank passengers for their patience whilst we cleared the snow and ice.

“The earlier runway closure means many flights are now subject to delays and passengers are advised to check with their airline for the latest information regarding particular flights.”

Bristol Airport flights are now operating as scheduled after they were suspended earlier this morning due to the ongoing weather conditions.

They said: “The south west aviation hub wrote on X/Twitter: “Passenger announcement, due to the ongoing weather conditions all flights have been currently suspended until 07:30, further announcements will be made once information is available.”

Manchester Airport diverted several flights to other northern airports with at least 16 planes rerouted between 10pm and 1am.
