Following the success of the More Mná recruitment campaign in early 2024, the company is running “further recruitment open days” to encourage more women to get behind the wheel and apply for bus driver positions in the capital.

The open days, which take place on October 26, November 9 and 23, are only open to women as females are underrepresented in Dublin Bus, specifically the driver role.

The open days will be held in Dublin, with the specific time and location given once you register your interest.

Attendees will meet with female drivers and inspectors, who will share their personal stories and insights about life on the road.

Participants will also have the rare chance to drive a training bus under the guidance of a qualified instructor, get a tour of the Dublin Bus Central Control Centre, and learn about the recruitment process as well as the numerous benefits of joining Dublin Bus.

“Being a bus driver gives you a front row seat to a vibrant capital. We want to empower women to pursue any careers they desire,” Vivienne Kavanagh, Talent Development and Diversity Manager at Dublin Bus said.

“I encourage anyone interested to attend our open days, learn about our competitive packages and take that first step. At Dublin Bus we are family, and we are excited to welcome more women to our team,” she added.

Benefits

Dublin Bus is offering a salary of €839.76 per week, increasing to €972.31 per week (six-year pay scale, 5-day week inclusive of shift and Sunday premium).

Additional benefits include a generous pension plan, a subsidised medical scheme, paid maternity leave, and access to a gym at every depot.

Dublin Bus is also offering part-time positions with a competitive salary starting at €21.53 per hour.

The part-time role requires a minimum commitment of Sundays and one additional day, based on operational needs, providing flexibility for those juggling family responsibilities, other jobs, or personal commitments.

Responsibilities

Deliver passengers safely and comfortably to their destination, whilst providing a customer friendly service.

Initial training and mentoring is provided as well as ongoing training and development.

New drivers will operate scheduled services covering a 5-day week with rotating shifts, including night service.

Essential criteria

To apply for the job and to attend the open days, you will need to be 18 years of age before the open day and hold a valid category B (car) licence for a minimum of two years.
