The incident was caught on camera

This is the moment a child is apparently struck by a man in a hi-vis jacket at the door of a Dublin Bus.

The footage that has been widely shared on social media shows an altercation between the child and man in a yellow vest at a bus stop in Dublin.

It is believed to be the bus stop near the IKEA shopping centre in Ballymun.

The short clip shows the child interacting with another person standing on the bus step before the man in the yellow vest steps forward and slaps the child with his left hand.

The child lets out a cry of pain and falls to the ground.

When contacted for comment Dublin Bus said it was aware of the footage and was investigating the alleged incident.

The Garda Press Office has been contacted for comment.
