Jonathan ‘Johno’ Frasier (38), who once had a grenade thrown at his home as part of the Crumlin-Drimnagh feud in 2008, is a brother of Mickey ‘Nine Lives’ Frasier who has survived numerous attempts on his life over the years.

Johno also famously gave an interview to ESPN in 2017 and talked about how he gave Conor McGregor “a few slaps” over a girl when they were younger but they later became friends and went on holiday abroad together.

Frasier celebrated with pals as he left Dublin Circuit Court this week after being given a suspended sentence for possession of knife in an incident where he tried to make his getaway from gardai on a bicycle while drunk but crashed into a kerb.

He had initially been charged with armed robbery arising out the same incident but prosecutors told Judge Orla Crowe that the State was withdrawing those charges after Frasier pleaded guilty to possession of a knife.

When he first appeared in court on the charges it was alleged he “lured” a young couple to a secluded spot by the Grand Canal to supposedly sell them cocaine before stealing from the woman at knifepoint. It had been alleged Frasier pushed the woman to the ground and held a knife to her throat before taking €450 from her pocket on April 6, 2020.

However, the State withdrew the robbery charge this week. Frasier admitted possession of a knife on the same date.

Detective Garda Mark Melbourne told the court that Garda Gary Burke observed Frasier on a bicycle at 12.40am on April 6, 2020 making his way from Kylemore Road onto Bluebell Avenue.

Garda Burke spoke to Frasier through the window of the patrol car and asked him to stop but the court heard Frasier, who was inebriated, “frantically attempted to cycle away but ended up hitting the footpath and falling”.

Frasier got up and tried to flee on foot but gardai gave chase and apprehended him.

Garda Christopher Hogan carried out a search of the area where the bike fell and found a four-inch knife with a black handle.

Frasier was remanded in custody and spent ten-and-a-half months behind bars awaiting trial before being granted High Court bail after it was heard he got a spot in a residential drug treatment facility.

Det Garda Melbourne told the court Frasier had 68 previous convictions for offences including possession of drugs, stealing cars, criminal damage, theft, attempted theft, handling stolen property, public order, failing to appear in court, dangerous driving and other road traffic offences.

Frasier was previously caught up in the Crumlin-Drimnagh feud. His older brother Mickey was a childhood friend of Brian Rattigan and was on a number of murder hit lists found by gardai which originated with ‘Fat’ Freddie Thompson’s rival mob.

However, Mickey later fell out with Rattigan associate Joey Redmond and then switched allegiances and became involved with Thompson’s crew.

Johno also had links to Thompson’s crew.

Their family home was attacked with a fragmentation grenade in 2008 and was targeted multiple more times in other attacks in subsequent years.

Mickey was targeted in multiple attempted hits and was dubbed Mickey ‘Nine Lives’ as he survived each attempt.

Judge Crowe took into account a number of mitigating circumstances such as Johno Frasier’s drug rehabilitation, his guilty plea and his “hope for the future” with his partner and family and sentenced him to 12 months but suspended it fully for one year.
