VIOLENT INCIDENTS |

The family-linked feud has led to a number of violent incidents in the past number of weeks with its participants based in the Moyne Road area of Baldoyle and Belcamp Lane in nearby Priorswood.

Gardaí seized a firearm, ammunition and two vehicles during a search operation in Baldoyle, Dublin 13 on Wednesday evening.

Investigations by gardaí who are monitoring an escalating feud in north Dublin led to a sawed-off double barrelled shotgun being seized as well as two cars that have been used for organised criminality.

The family-linked feud has led to a number of violent incidents in the past number of weeks with its participants based in the Moyne Road area of Baldoyle and Belcamp Lane in nearby Priorswood.

The shotgun as well as three rounds of ammunition were found hidden in an abandoned van in a planned search operation by gardaí at Moyne Park Halting Site on Wednesday night.

“There are concerns that someone may get seriously injured or killed if the feud continues the way it has been so it is a good result to get this weapon off the streets,” a source told the Irish Independent.

Officers also seized two cars in the operation including a Silver Seat Leon which is suspected of being used in a number of organised burglaries in the south east of the country.

Also seized in the garda operation was a Black Ford car which was stolen in a burglary in the Rathfarnham area of south Dublin earlier this month.

The criminal gang had removed its number plates and sources say that the expectation is that the vehicle was to be used for further criminality.

A long established family-based crime gang are suspected of controlling the cars and weapon which were seized by gardaí.

They have been the subject of a number of raids involving armed gardaí over the past number of years.

Gardai announced details of the operation on Thursday.

“Gardaí seized a firearm, ammunition and two vehicles during a search operation in Baldoyle, Dublin 13 on Wednesday evening, 25th September 2024,” a spokeswoman said.

“As part of ongoing investigations into recent criminal activity in the Baldoyle area, Gardaí in Howth conducted a search operation under warrant at a property on the Moyne Road. Assistance was provided by the District Detective Unit, Garda Dog Unit, Armed Support Unit, District Drugs Unit, the District Crime Task Force and uniform Gardaí from Clontarf and Raheny.

“During the course of the search, a sawn-off double barrel shotgun and ammunition was found concealed in an abandoned vehicle.

“The firearm and ammunition was seized by Gardaí and is subject to further analysis by the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau.

“Two vehicles were also seized by Gardaí during the course of the search and are subject to a technical examination.

“No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing,” she added.
