A five-year-old girl who was seriously hurt in a knife attack in Dublin in November has been discharged from hospital.
Three children and a creche worker were injured in the incident in Parnell Square, outside the Gaelscoil Choláiste Mhuire school.
In an update on a fundraiser page, the girl’s family said she left hospital on Friday.
“After 281 days, we were discharged from Temple Street Children’s Hospital,” they said.
“Today we begin a new chapter in our darling’s rehabilitation (or as we call it ‘The Gym’).
“The hope is that she is able to swallow food, move her arms and legs more purposefully, and utter some more sounds.”
In August, the family said they were able to bring their daughter home for a visit for the first time since the attack.
They have moved to an adapted home, so it was also the “first time she saw her new neighbourhood and house”.
The two other children, aged five and six, who were also injured during the attack were discharged from hospital shortly afterwards.
Riad Bouchaker, 50, has been charged with the attempted murder of two girls and a boy.
He remains in custody awaiting trial.
There was widespread disorder in Dublin city centre following the attack.
