An elderly woman has died in a car crash in Rathfarnham in Dublin.

The woman in her 80s was driving a car that crashed into a number of parked vehicles on Hillside Drive at around 10:30am this morning.

She was fatally injured in the collision.

Meanwhile, a man in one of the parked vehicles was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The road remains closed while Gardaí carry out a forensic investigation of the crash site.

Investigators are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage.

The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination.
