The founder of Husky Rescue Ireland, Andy Cullen, took to Facebook on behalf of the owner to share images of the stolen dog, saying she is “devastated” by the loss.

“She is a Husky Rescue Ireland adopted dog,” Mr Cullen wrote in a Facebook post.

“I can confirm she was stolen from Marlborough Street in Dublin today. Her owner is devastated, and we need all eyes peeled. Please share and contact me if you hear, see, or know anything.”

Cathy Ward, one of the co-owners of the missing dog, also shared pictures of Skye on a Facebook page dedicated to lost, stolen, or missing dogs in the UK.

In her post, she said: “Stolen dog, dog stolen from Dublin today. The suspect could be travelling within the UK. If you have any information, please get in touch with me.”

According to reports, Ms Ward’s partner was out walking Skye at lunchtime when he was attacked, leading to the theft of the dog.

Ms Ward told FM104 that a man, estimated to be around 6ft 2in tall, forcibly grabbed her partner, resulting in a struggle.

During the altercation, another individual, dressed in a white hoodie, seized Skye and fled down Cathal Brugha Street before jumping into a taxi.

After the taxi had stopped at a set of traffic lights, the man exited the vehicle with Skye and ran towards Mountjoy Square. Despite Ms Ward’s partner’s efforts to chase them, he was unable to catch up.

It was also reported that Ms Ward’s partner sustained injuries during the incident which required medical treatment.

The public is now being urged to keep a vigilant eye out for Skye, the Siberian Husky, who is distinctive for having one blue eye and one brown eye.

An Garda Síochána have been contacted for further comment on the ongoing investigation.
