A Dublin family has revealed where they will be ‘doing the shopping’ after winning a €1 million Lotto Jackpot over the weekend.
The Dublin syndicate comprised of four family members will split the winnings equally with each member receiving €250,000 after the draw on Saturday, September 28.
Claiming their win at Lotto HQ, the head of the syndicate revealed how he burst into his daughter’s bedroom and woke her up to check the ticket.
‘[I] said, “Here quick, rub your eyes and check that!”‘ he revealed, adding that the pair sat across from each other in shock when they realized they’d won big.
The head of the syndicate admitted he hadn’t stopped trembling since learning of the jackpot win. He also revealed he had kept the ticket hidden between t-shirts in his wardrobe over the weekend.
He added that he would ‘still be shopping in Penneys’ and utilise his winnings for a special dinner with his family and a few trips around the world.
The winning ticket was sold at Spar in The Square Shopping Centre, Tallaght.
Elsewhere, a Cork syndicate won €262,554 with each of the four friends taking home €65,638.
The group have been playing as part of the syndicate for two and a half years, and almost missed out on the win when two of the members debated who would go and buy the ticket.
The head of the Cork syndicate revealed: ‘I convinced him I would, as I wanted to grab a chocolate bar for my evening treat. If I’d let him buy it, we’d have missed out on €65,000 each!’
A Kildare punter also won big from Saturday’s draw, and collected a cheque for €82,584 after matching 5 numbers and the bonus. The lucky ticket was bought at Spar, Newtown in Maynooth.
Wednesday’s jackpot rolls towards an estimated €2 million.
