The Ellen Kinch Memorial Cup event was a wonderful success yet again this year with over €4000 raised for Barretstown to date and fun and laughter the order of what was a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Tinahely GAA Club.
On what was a scorching day, the Kinch family’s hopes of remembering their daughter and sister’s name were well and truly granted with teams from Wicklow and beyond and plenty of spectators turning up for a feast of football and plenty more besides.
It was a day of good craic and some superb football while thekid’s corner proved a real attraction with facepainting and more while for the older and more ambitious there was a guessing game and a fittest person competition with contestants having multiple exercises to complete!
There were also copious amounts of home baked treats and good coffee from Caiféin, who are based in Kilanerin on a day-to-day basis!
On the football field, there was a double success for Tinahely, with their teams coming out on top of the Group A and B competitions, Group A being for Senior teams and Group B featuring a mix of Junior and Intermediate sides.
Clonee finished up in second spot in Group A while Shelmaliers claimed runners up spot in Group B.
Tinahely’s Zoe Katus was named player of the tournament (voted by referees after each game) while the Gaelic4mothers&others also had four teams playing in a blitz, with some brilliant football on display and plenty of craic and laughter!
Other results on the day:
Bluezone fittest person: Naomi Kiernan (€100 Bluezone voucher).
Guessing the spuds:
