And he would have enjoyed the action on the track as some powerful runs were recorded.
Right from the start in race one there was a fine effort from trap four runner Metric Strike who found himself well off the pace, setting trap five runner Gymstar Fabiola off down the back with trap three’s Vinegarhill Rhys chasing hard into the third bend.
At this stage Metric started to get into gear and, closing the gap down off the last bend, he tracked cleverly to hug the rail up the straight and come storming through to win going away by one length from Vinegarhill in a good 28.91, his eighth career win.
Race two produced the fastest run of the night when trap six runner Ballinclare Cole, with a fast sprint time on his return to action, was backed down to favouritism and duly obliged.
And while led from trap rise into the back, Ballinclare seemed to have things under control, showing a nice burst of pace down the back and coming clear to score an easy five-length win in a fast tine of 28.86 and record his seventh career win.
Race three was exciting, at least down to the third bend with several runners in contention, but after that trap three runner and 5/1 shot Nametab Freckles put her stamp on the race, powering right away to score by six lengths in a good 28.94.
Race nine went to the in-form trap one runner Knockduff Don who showed nice early gears to lead and indeed opened up a good six length advantage down the back straight, looking like he was on his way to an easy win.
However, while he was always going to win, the lead was being rapidly closed down near the line by favourite Vici Tana, and only a length separated them at the line in a winning time of 28.89.
The Monday night card opened up with a bang as in race one – the first of three heats of the TIME Greyhound Nutrition Unraced Stake – the favourite, trap three runner Mayflower Sienna, gave her supporters little worry when breaking well to lead.
She simply went further and further away to score by a wide-margin twelve-length distance in a fastest of the night time of 28.84.
The three first round heats of the A3/4 Members’ 575-Yard Stake also got under way in races six through eight.
As in the Unraced Stake, it was heat one that produced the quickest time of the round in race six when trap five runner Ashwood News moved up to challenge the leader, trap four’s Yourgonnabelucky at the opening bends.
They had a good old battle most of the trip and it was only in the last 50 yards or so that Ashwood proved the stronger to come away and score a snug two-length win in the end in a time of 31.91.
