Finuge won the Division 2 final while Listowel Emmets claimed the Division 3 title
Last weekend saw Kerry Coiste na nÓg host the Feile Peil na nÓg for Kerry in ten different locations all around Kerry.
Division One
Austin Stacks, Keel/Listry, Firies and Killarney Legion all qualified from their groups for the Division One semi-finals, hosted on Saturday morning in a resplendent Austin Stack Park. First up was Firies versus Austin Stacks, and to their credit both sides had great support on the day. Play was fairly even in the first half, but Stacks maybe went for goal chances when points were on offer. Despite Stacks finding the net just before the break, Firies led by 0-5 to 1-1 and added three more points to their tally in the second half while keeping their opponents scoreless.
In the other semi-final Keel/Listry led Killarney Legion narrowly at the break by 1-4 to 1-2, but each side could only add one point each in a tightly contested second half.
That pitted Firies against neighbours Keel/Listry in the Division One Final. Keel/Listry made the better start, with a point from Cillian O’Donoghue sandwiching two Killian Fitzgerald frees. Pádraig O’Sullivan won and converted a free for Firies but Danny Murphy and Cillian O’Donoghue made it 0-5 to 0-1. However, Pádraig O’Sullivan pointed for Firies and then burst through for an absolutely stunning goal. Killian Fitzgerald and Daniel Cronin traded scores to leave it deadlocked, 0-6 to 1-3, at half-time.
Both sides hit the post before Isaac Vickers opened the second half scoring with another Firies goal. Cade Jameson pulled back a point for Keel/Listyry but Firies were beginning to take control with minors from Daniel Cronin, James Barry and Kevin O’Shea.
Two goals between them, but Keel/Listry set to work with a will to trim that gap. Kealan Riordan notched a free and then saw a great effort blaze just over the crossbar after a great through ball from Danny Murphy. A point from Killian Fitzgerald meant that there was just a goal in it, but Firies burst clear on one last attack and a goal by Ryan Quilter wrapped up a 3-7 to 0-10 victory.
Division Two
In Caherslee, Milltown/Castlemaine qualified for the final after seeing off Ardfert by 0-5 to 0-3 in a cracking game. Finuge had a convincing win over a game Glenflesk/Kilgarvan outfit, and the north Kerry club had too much power for Milltown/Castlemaine as well in the final, winning it by 2-9 to 0-3.
Division Three
Listowel Emmets faced off against Dromid/Waterville and a knack for scoring goals saw them through to the final. On the other side it took extra-time to separate the teams, with Ballymac’s strong finish giving them a 2-10 to 2-4 over St. Senans. In the final, Listowel Emmets led by 0-7 to 1-0 at half-time and eventually won out on a 0-11 to 2-0 scoreline to take the Division Three title.
